The Focus on Imaging web site is: http://www.focus-on-imaging.co.ukIdruna Software's Pocket Phojo 3.0 Ushers in a New Era in High Speed News Gathering Murrieta, CA - February 27th, 2005 - Idruna Software Inc's Pocket Phojo in conjunction with the Nikon and Canon WiFi Transmitters has become the new bridge between camera and picture desk. The solution consists of a Pocket PC, running Idruna's Pocket Phojo software, and PixAgent's Pocket ITP FTP server. It greatly extends the functionality of the Nikon WT-1/WT-2 and Canon WFT-E1 WiFi transmitter by allowing images to be automatically captioned, resized, recompressed, and retransmitted by FTP or Email via mobile phone, WiFi, satellite phone, or land line. The result is that a single click of the shutter can deliver a press-ready image to the news wires in near real-time.
Scenario 1 - Fast Breaking News Story
The photographer tags their best photos in-camera, telling the camera's WiFi transmitter to transmit just the tagged files to the Pocket PC. Pocket Phojo watches for the files as they arrive, then adds the photographer's caption, resizes, and recompresses the photo to create a file that will take no more than a few minutes to transmit via mobile phone, then automatically connects to the phone via Bluetooth, and FTPs the images to the picture desk. As everything is automated, the Pocket PC can be left in a pocket the entire time.
Scenario 2 - Large Sports Event
All the JPEG images taken during the event are transmitted via WiFi from the camera to the Pocket PC. Pocket Phojo takes each file as they arrive, then adds captions, resizes to the desired size, then retransmits to edit stations. This allows the photographer to concentrate on the action, and removes the need for runners.
Scenario 3 - Day to Day Use
All the photos taken in JPEG format are automatically transmitted to the Pocket PC. Without needing to take the flash card out of the camera, the photographer is able to view the images on the Pocket PC's 4" VGA screen at much higher resolution than the camera can display, select the best ones for transmission, type in the captions, then have the selected images automatically resized, and transmitted to the picture desk. The photographer is also free to edit each image individually, cropping for best effect, and applying toning via the Levels and Adjust All filters. As Pocket Phojo is able to automatically dial and hang-up the mobile phone, the photographer puts the Pocket PC back in the pocket it came from, and is free to head home/to the pub, while his competitors complain about sore backs and wait for their heavy laptop to boot up.

New Features for Pocket Phojo 3.0
- Nikon WT-1/WT-2 and Canon WFT-E1 WiFi Transmitter support ushers in a new era in high speed newsgathering.
- Folder Watching makes it easy to configure Phojo to automatically process and transmit files as they arrive in user defined folders, including watching CompactFlash/SD card slots for insertion for scenarios when the entire contents of a card needs to be processed.
- Transmit Folder replaces the Transfer Files function in Phojo 2.6, allowing entire folders to be batch processed and transmitted by FTP, Email, or File Copied to a network share or storage card.
- Improved Transmission Queue now shows all files waiting to be transmitted, as well as the status of previously transmitted files.
- Embedded ICC Colour Profiles are now resaved.
- Support for US Military style caption labels.
A Pocket PC running Pocket Phojo is much smaller, lighter, cheaper, and easier to use and configure than a laptop, making it the ideal companion for the WT-1/WT-2.
